Nor Man Nor Woman
Michael Stoneburner, 2024
I am neither man nor woman
divided divinely
my physicality might perplex you
just a few more cogs added to this machine.
I am neither architect nor carpenter
of this divinely divided body.
It is what it is, what it is, it is.
Aphrodite favours me
while Narcissus covets what is mine
you might see a gorgon
but I see a different model
from a plethora of choices.
I am neither god nor goddess
perhaps fey – a gay motif
of the slender divide of a divine angel
with thousands of eyes
eyes of the beholder.
Behold me!
For I am neither defined nor boxed.
I am born of flesh and bone
dust and dirt divinely guided
to follow in the footsteps of the before
so that after I may rest
in knowing that I was always
and forever be
me
and the all that I am.
