It’s been a hot minute I know since I last posted on here. It’s been a tough go in real life, but also a busy one with many exciting things over the horizon. The world hasn’t been a kind nor safe space for many. I had hoped I’d be able to post here to be a safe space, but it’s hard to create one when you don’t feel like you have one.
June is World Pride Month. It’s an important one for me as I continue my adventures finding meaning in who I am and how I fit in this world. It’s a reminder for me to stay loud and proud and diligent in my advocacies as well as my own happiness.
June starts off with me on the radio! Spotlight Sydney will be having me on their show to discuss World Pride Month, what it means to me and what I have going on during this month. You’re hearing it here first though. I also have the pleasure of introducing the winner of Western Sydney Rainbow Connections’ first place winner. They come on right after me and will be reading their work. You’ll love it. Keep an eye out for details on Spotlight’s website. I know they have a podcast, too.
More exciting news is I’ll be hosting two writing workshops during the month of June. One for Young Adults and the other for Adults. Not only has this challenged my own self worth (Imposter Syndrome activate!) but it has also given me a platform to discuss how having our “Own Voices” is important and tips on how I write. If you’ve been a follower on my website for some times, you’ll be familiar with Story Stones.
Yep. Story Stones will be coming back regularly once again, both in person and online. So stay tuned to this space for more writing prompts. I’ll also be expanding my Buy Me A Coffee tab so those who donate will also be able to receive some of my fantastic writing prompts. I can’t wait.
We talk on Twitter but I somehow didn’t know about your blog until now 😕. Can’t wait to see what the Story Stones are. As always, wish you guys peace and hugs 💜☮️
I did a season of Story Stones last year or the year before. If you search my website you should find 10 episodes of them. Great writing prompts!
It’s great to hear you sounding so positive Michael and doing outreach within the community. Other LGBTQIA folks will enjoy your writer’s workshops because you can relate to them and your prompts are so good. You can even share an excerpt from your book and do some self-promotion in the process! Don’t be shy. Enjoy these moments with fellow creatives.
Thank you, as always, Naomi.
